Just a brief note to let you know I managed the Wilmington 10K. It was a tough race, I had nothing left when I finished. Its not even 1/4 of the distance.

Sponsorship is going well at 60% of the target, I should get to the target by the day of the race!

If anyone would like to join me in a training run please give me a call.

The golf day has come and gone, it raised approximately £850 and the grand total is now over £2000. Many thanks to all everyone who has supported me.

Training is starting to slowly get back on course, my problems with my achilles tendon are mainly due to poor stretching before and after running!

The next runn I have on the horizon is the Wilmington 10K, I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks
Simon

Well the golf day is nearly here there are seven teams going out this Sunday 11th October. This should give the donations a good boost towards the target.

On a training note training is not going well at the moment I have an Achilles problem and have been told to rest. I will have to revise the goal I have set myself for finishing in four hours.

Till next time
Simon

Hello again.

The training is hard at the moment but the sponsorship helps motivate me.
On that note many thanks to Brett of BP Howard for his generous donation.

So far the longest I have been able to run is 10 miles! Its been a lot harder than I ever imagined.

I 'm thinking of doing the London duathlon in September so if you fancy sponsoring me it will make sure I dont back out.

Keep tuned in I will be back soon.

Well folks I ventured out from the safety of the gym this week. Not a good idea going from the air condition gym to the heat at 1:00PM. So from now on its either early morning runs or in the gym!

I went to the London marathon store on Friday> 9 months and 21 days to the big day it states for all to see. That brings it home. After the bad run this weekend the amount of training I need to do is just starting to sink in. At least I have time.

Many thanks to Tone Scaffolding for their sponsorship.

A charity golf day has been arranged for 27th Sept, your support would be gratefully appreciated .

First sponsor

Many thanks to Coleman for their generous donation and getting the ball rolling!

I'm up to 15 k in the training, but the going is hard. With the hot weather I have been training in the gym (air conditioning) but any thing over 4o minutes is very boring.

To help with training I intend to do a half marathon in September so if you fancy joining me or know of any good ones please give me a shout.

To help raise money for Railway Children I have with the help of kelly arranged a charity golf day on 27th September at Lullinstone Park Golf Club. For breakfast, golf and dinner at the bargin price of £45. I am looking for support on the day and sponsorship of the prizes and par three's.

See you all again in a few weeks.

Bluewater 10K Run, 14th June 2009

Why you might ask is Simon Adamson doing the marathon. Well there are two main reasons.

Following the Osborne Rail Christmas Party my wife commented one of my colleagues said they thought I had put a lot of weight on since joining Osborne and they were concerned about my health. Also over the Christmas break my mum gave me my annual dressing down, that people of my size where prone to diabetes. So that spurred me on to my first challenge. I gave up drinking alcohol for a month; the only thing is I forgot to start again. So far its 5 months and 16 days since I have had an alcoholic drink. After about 2 months of not drinking I started to do a bit of exercise. This really started off by giving Kelly-Ann Ee and the girls some support and joining them on a training session for the three peaks.

So what’s the second reason I hear you all asking. Well being a health and safety manager its easy to measure what we do for safety, so this started my mind working on a project to encourage my colleagues in the Rail sector to improve they health. I put a proposal to the Rail Managing Director Mike Cocks with various activities culminating with me doing the London Marathon for Railway Children, (unfortunately he agreed).

So here I am just completed my first race- the Bluewater 10k run organised by He Runs She Runs (contrary to rumour this wasn’t chasing my wife around the shops!). It just had to be one of the first hot days of summer, and I managed it in 58 mins. This is less than 25% of a Marathon, so more training needed for me!

So far I have lost 2 ½ stones! But for those of you who have tried a Wii fit I’m still obese!
